   1. This class is not held every month so don't miss out!

WHO:
Co-ed and All ages 18 and Over
NOTE: The class is Coed and the moves are gender neutral (non-partner) moves but we do not control the ratio between men and women


LEVEL: 

  • Co-ed, Beginners who are comfortable with movement - Total Beginners with no dance experience are also welcome. 
  • Dance moves are gender neutral and are not partner moves
  • Class is low impact on the knees with little to no jumping and no crawling on the floor type of dance moves. 
  • NOTE: If you are unable to hear the beat and are very uncomfortable with movement then you may prefer a private lesson.


WHY THIS CLASS?

  • Optional Videos and photos taken of the students at the end of each class to track our progress
  • 1 hour and 30 minute class (rather than the typical 1 hour dance class)
  • This is one of the few Hip Hop Classes in the area that has a small 8 student limit and is catered to Beginners
  • Some students say dance class is more helpful than their weekly therapy.
  • Get a workout, learn a new skill, AND make new friends IN PERSON!
  • NOTE: This class is held once or twice a month and not every month.  Don't miss out and regret it later.  You only live once!

At the top of this page there's a short end of class video from a recent class.  We don't do choreography but something similar, which is a repetitive routine to get the moves into your muscle memory.  


CLASS CURRICULUM:

  • Get off your screens and come make some new friends while learning some new moves!  2024 is the year for getting comfortable being uncomfortable!  End this year knowing that you accomplished a goal of learning something NEW!
  • Learn some Hip Hop Party Moves you can use at clubs, parties, and weddings.  We also do some fun team bonding activities in the class to get everyone out of their shells and help build confidence.  
  • Learn popular gender neutral Hip Hop Party moves in a repetitive routine (not choreography) so that you can master and learn the moves properly.  We only do 6 to 10 moves per class.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Your class instructor Amina is the owner of District Groove.  Amina has 18 years of Hip Hop Dance teaching experience and has performed and taught dance on Cruise Ships as well as at large Corporate Events.  Her Adult Hip Hop Classes have been featured in The Washington Post as well as several Local News Channels. She specializes in Adult Beginner Hip Hop Classes as well as Team Building Hip Hop Classes for Corporate Events. 

Amina loves sharing dance with her local commuity and she loves to help build confidence in her students.  Her class is a safe space for students to make mistakes, have fun, make friends, and encourage each other.

REFUND POLICY:  Non-refundable and no make-ups - BUT the only refund exception is if you don't like the class you can get a full refund only if you text Amina at (301) 641-6055 within 24 hours of the 1st class.  If your class doesn't fill you will be notified and refunded.  So please tell your friends to join.
 

DISCOUNTS:  $10 will be refunded to you per student who signs up after you do, due to your recommendation.  The student must be new to Amina's class. To get this discount please text Amina at (301) 641-6055 with your name and inform her of the names of the students who signed up due to your recommendation and she will send the $10 back to you per student.  

STUDIO RULES:
● No perfumes as it gives the instructor and some students allergies

● No kids or friends or pets allowed to come watch 

● No alcohal or drugs before class. Even tipsy students are hard to teach!

● Anyone who is distruptive in class or smells of marajuana of any kind of Drugs or Alcohal will be asked to leave.

● Students are not allowed to use gym equipment in the classroom before, during or after class. 

● Shoes should be sneakers that don't mark the floor. Shoes with less tread at the bottom will be easier to dance in. No high heels, flip flops or sandals.
